A new study finds that drinking tea may reduce the risk of deadly diseases—and that’s just one of many health benefits associated with the popular beverage.

Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world, other than water. Over 6.6 billion pounds of tea are produced each year.

Why? More and more research is documenting that what we include in our diet is as important as what we exclude. Tea contains a variety—perhaps thousands—of powerful, protective antioxidant substances called polyphenols, especially flavonoids such as catechins, that may help reduce the risk of some of the most common chronic diseases.

For example, a study was published two weeks ago in the Journal of the American Medical Association that followed more than 40,000 Japanese men and women over a seven- to eleven-year period. They found that green tea consumption was associated with a reduced mortality due to all causes except cancer.

The more green tea they drank, the lower their risk of dying early. Researchers found that that the overall risk of premature death due to illness was 26-percent lower among those who consumed five or more cups a day compared those who drank less than one cup per day of green tea after seven years of follow-up.

Interestingly, the effects of tea on reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease were not caused only by changes in traditional risk factors such as cholesterol levels or blood pressure. The polyphenols in green tea appear to have powerful antioxidant properties and are scavengers for free radicals that otherwise could damage your cells. These polyphenols may directly and beneficially affect coronary artery blockages (atherosclerosis), dilate your arteries, and also help reduce the formation of blood clots. Green tea also has significant anti-inflammatory effects. Black tea and oolong teas(Chinese Tea) were not found to be quite as protective as green tea.

Looking Beyond The Unknown

We are always afraid of losing WHAT WE HAVE.

One of humanity’s biggest fears is losing what we have.Although we know it for sure that nothing is everlasting, everything will be destroid someday, we can not accept it in our mind. It is healthy when fear of loss helps us take steps to protect what we have worked hard to attain, but it is unhealthy to continue to fear something we can do nothing about. We need to remember that focusing our energy on fear can actually create what scares us, and holding tightly to what we have keeps us from participating in the universal flow of abundance and instead creates stagnation. Since we can only really control our thoughts and our responses, gaining proper perspective may be key to conquering such fears.

The letters of the word “fear” can be used to stand for “False Evidence Appearing Real.” Fears of being separated from something or someone we feel we need for our security or happiness comes from a delusion-a distorted way of understanding ourselves and the world around us. When we understand that possessions are only representations of the energy at work in our lives, we can shift our attention to the right and proper place. We can stop fearing loss of money or success because when we understand how it is created, we can always create more. We can stop fearing loss of possessions when we realize that they are not the source of our joy or well-being but only icing on our cakes. And when we understand the energy of love, we need not hold anyone too close for fear of losing them for we know that love does not diminish when it is given or shared but expands beyond boundaries of time and space.

By focusing our light on our fears, they are revealed as mere shadows that disappear in the presence of mind and spirit. We can choose instead to direct our thoughts and creative power toward things of true value-love, abundance, peace, passion, and joy. These are energies that are always available to us(only we are to drag them from withen) when we place ourselves confidently in the universal flow of abundance.

I believe if PEACE is the ultimate goal in our life ,we must devote ourselves to LOVE , SACRIFICE ,FORGIVE AND FORGET which only can give us eternal happiness.

The wonders of India’s staple spice turmeric seem to just keep popping up.

US scientists announced today that animal studies show turmeric extracts can prevent arthritis and bone loss.

The researchers at the University of Arizona College of Medicine have said their studies are the first to demonstrate the anti-arthritic effect of turmeric extracts called curcuminoids in living animals.

Several previous studies, including some by Indian researchers, have shown that turmeric’s curcumin extract can play a role as an anti-inflammatory agent and as an anti-tumour agent.

In the study reported today in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism, endocrinologist Janet Funk and her colleagues said their experiments also provide the first documentation of a mechanism of action — how curcumin-containing extracts protect the animals from arthritis.

The extracts inhibit a substance called NF-KBm which enhances the production of proteins that destroy joints in arthritis.

According to Funk, these findings pave the way for clinical trials required before turmeric supplements can be prescribed routinely to prevent or treat rheumatoid arthritis.

The study also shows that a turmeric extract blocked a biochemical process in the body that influences bone loss.

In women, bone loss usually begins before the onset of menopause. Funk has initiated another study to determine whether turmeric taken as a dietary supplement before menopause can prevent bone loss and osteoporosis.

Indian scientists who have been working on turmeric said they are not surprised by the findings. Scientists at the Institute of Cytology and Preventive Oncology in New Delhi had last year shown that turmeric might help fight the human papilloma virus, which causes cervical cancer. Their studies showed that curcumin blocked viral genes.

Three years ago, a team at the National Centre for Cell Science in Pune had revealed possible mechanisms by which curcumin demonstrates its anti-tumour effects.

The effect of curcumin on NF-KB, observed by Funk and her colleagues, suggests that turmeric dietary supplements share the same mechanism of action as anti-arthritic drugs under development. This finding also suggests that turmeric may find applications in other inflammatory diseases such as asthma and inflammatory bowel disease.
