A banana a day keeps the doctor away

…..In Thailand ,for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Eat at least one banana every day , they are said to contain everything a human needs and they contain all the 8 amino acids our body cannot produce itself.

Peculior characteristics:-   It is the most well known and eaten tropical food.In eastern Africa you can buy banana beer. This bear is brewed from banana fruit.Tropical fruit is usually picked unripen and transported to different places and there they ripen them artificially.Bananas are ripen in ethylene- gas.Sometimes they expose them to additional-gas to accelerate the process.

Banana is the only fruit that for some people can work fatting because they contain a lot of starch(more starch than sugar). These people shouldnot eat toomany bananas a day, but one is a must.

Bananas are very good sourse of fibre, potassium and vitamin C: Red bananas are often dried and converted to meal which is used in many ways. They contain more vitamine C .

Description & storage:
Long thick-skinned edible fruit that is yellow when ripe.
Keep bananas on a fruit dish in the living room at room temperature. If you want the bananas to ripen faster place the bowl in the sun. Like other tropical fruits and tomatoes and bell peppers, never store bananas in the refrigerator. Below 8 degrees Celsius the fruit will decay from the inside. These fruits will not ripen but will turn black in the refrigerator. If babana gets more ripen it’s skin may turn black, but nothing to worry, you can peal and eat that banana too.If you don’t want the skin to get black, wrap the yellow skined banana with a wet napkin, the skin will not turn black so quickly.

Medicinal uses:    Tape a small piece of banana skin (with the fleshy side towards the wart) over the wart at bedtime. Leave it on overnight. Some people report that warts given this treatment daily disappear within weeks.

Plant description : Banana plant can grow up to 15m.but most plant are 3 to 9m. It has very big leafs can grow 4x1m.

Urine…. CLICK & SEE

Urine is a sterile, liquid by-product of the body that is secreted by the kidneys through a process called urination and excreted through the urethra. Cellular metabolism generates numerous by-products, many rich in nitrogen, that require elimination from the bloodstream. These by-products are eventually expelled from the body in a process known as micturition, the primary method for excreting water-soluble chemicals from the body. These chemicals can be detected and analyzed by urinalysis. Amniotic fluid is closely related to urine, and can be analyzed by amniocentesis. A major component of urine is urea. Urea is commonly recognized as an effective antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral agent. Urine contains 95% water 2. 5% mixture of urea and 2. 5% is mineral salts, hormones and enzymes.

The kidney produces urine.  The other main function of the kidney is to regulate fluid balance in the body.  It performs this function by using a selective osmosis system.  Basically, the way it works is that electrolytes (dissolved salts like sodium, potassium, calcium, carbonate, chloride) are pumped back into or out of urine and blood so that in the end,
just the right amounts of electrolyte and water exit the kidney blood vein.  The rest ends up in urine.  Interestingly, normal urine is sterile and has no bacteria.

Urine contains 95% water and 5% solids.  More than 1000 different mineral salts and compounds are estimated to be in urine.  So far, our
scientific community knows of about 200 elements.  Some substances are:  vitamins, amino acids, antibodies, enzymes, hormones, antigens, interleukins,
proteins, immunoglobulins, gastric secretory depressants, tolergens, immunogens, uric acid, urea, proteoses, directin, H-11 (a growth inhibitory
factor in human cancer), and urokinase.  Believe it or not, scientists have know for years that urine is antibacterial, anti-protozoal, anti-fungal, anti-
viral, and anti-tuberculostatic!
Composition
Exhaustive detailed description of the composition of human urine can be found in NASA Contractor Report No. NASA CR-1802, D. F. Putnam, July 1971. That report provided detailed chemical analyses for inorganic and organic constituents, methods of analysis, chemical and physical properties and its behavior during concentrative processes such as evaporation, distillation and other phisiochemical operations. Urine is an aqueous solution of greater than 95% water, with the remaining constituents, in order of decreasing concentration urea 9.3 g/l, chloride 1.87 g/l, sodium 1.17 g/l, potassium 0.750 g/l, creatinine 0.670 g/l and other dissolved ions, inorganic and organic compounds.

Urine is sterile until it reaches the urethra where the epithelial cells lining the urethra are colonized by facultatively anaerobic Gram negative rods and cocci.Subsequent to elimination from the body, urine can acquire strong odors due to bacterial action. Most noticeably, the asphyxiating ammonia is produced by breakdown of urea. Some diseases alter the quantity and consistency of the urine, such as sugar as a consequence of diabetes.

Unusual color

Urine is a transparent solution that can range from colorless to amber but is usually a pale yellow. Colorless urine indicates over-hydration, which is usually considered much healthier than dehydration(to some extent however over hydration can remove essential salts from the body). In the context of a drug test, it could indicate a potential attempt to avoid detection of illicit drugs in the bloodstream through over-hydration.

*Dark yellow urine is often indicative of dehydration.
*Yellowing/light orange may be caused by removal of excess B vitamins from the bloodstream.
*Certain medications such as rifampin and pyridium can cause orange urine.
*Bloody urine is termed hematuria, potentially a sign of a bladder infection or carcinoma.
*Dark orange to brown urine can be a symptom of jaundice, rhabdomyolysis, or Gilbert’s syndrome.
*Black or dark-colored urine is referred to as melanuria and may be caused by a melanoma.
*Fluorescent yellow / greenish urine may be caused by dietary supplemental vitamins, especially the B vitamins.
*Consumption of beets can cause urine to have a pinkish tint, and asparagus consumption can turn urine greenish.
*Reddish or brown urine may be caused by porphyria. Although again, the consumption of beets can cause the urine to have a harmless, temporary pink or reddish tint.

Odor
The smell of urine can be affected by the consumption of food. Eating asparagus is known to cause a strong odor in human urine. This is due to the body’s breakdown of asparagusic acid.  Other foods (and beverages) that contribute to odor include curry, alcohol, coffee, turkey, and onion.

Turbidity
Turbid urine may be a symptom of a bacterial infection, but can also be due to crystallization of salts such as calcium phosphate.

pH
The pH of urine is close to neutral   but can normally vary between 4.4 and 8. In persons with hyperuricosuria, acidic urine can contribute to the formation of stones of uric acid in the kidneys, ureters, or bladder.   Urine pH can be monitored by a physician  or at home.

A diet high in citrus, vegetables, or dairy can increase urine pH (more basic). Some drugs also can increase urine pH, including acetazolamide, potassium citrate, and sodium bicarbonate.

A diet high in meat or cranberries can decrease urine pH (more acidic). Drugs that can decrease urine pH include ammonium chloride, chlorothiazide diuretics, and methenamine mandelate.

Volume
The amount of urine produced depends on numerous factors including state of hydration, activities, environmental factors, size, and health. In adult humans the average production is about 1 – 2 L per day. Producing too much or too little urine needs medical attention: Polyuria is a condition of excessive production of urine (> 2.5 L/day), in contrast to oliguria where < 400 mL are produced per day, or anuria with a production of < 100 mL per day.

Density or specific gravity
Normal urine density or specific gravity values vary between 1.003–1.035 (g·cm?3) , and any deviations may be associated with urinary disorders.

Urine Therapy. A cure for all diseases

A cure of many diseses that you do by yourself with own urine they call it “THE WATER OF LIFE”. I know several people in India who lived long with very minimum sickness, they used to drink their urine once every day. Off hand, I vividly remember the name of Morarji Desai, who was once Indian Priminister(from1977 to 1979) and a great political leader, survived till his 99th. birthday, maintained very good health all along, used to drink a glass of his own uring everyday morning throughout his life. The urotherapist say drinking urine increases our auto immuno system and protects us from many diseases.Urotherapy is also known as urine therapy, urea therapy and auto-urotherapy.

FISH and other SEAFOOD can play an important role in a good diet. Because fish are high in protein but low in unhealthy fats, they make a great alternative to red meat. Fish are a good source of vitamins and minerals Fish has an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which may protect against coronary heart disease and stroke, and are thought to aid in the neurological development of unborn babies,” said Joshua Cohen, lead author and senior research associate at the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis at HSPH.

It is recomended that eating fish(particularly fatty fish) atleast two times a week is very good for health. Fatty fish like mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon are high in two kinds of omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Two new studies give one more reason to eat a diet rich in fish: prevention of age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in old age .

Even though the world’s fish contain slight amounts of mercury, eating lots of fish carries no detectable health risk from low levels of the substance, even for very young children and pregnant women, concludes the most comprehensive study of the subject yet.

The findings come from a nine-year University of Rochester study conducted in the Republic of the Seychelles, an island nation in the Indian Ocean where most people eat nearly a dozen fish meals each week and whose mercury levels are about 10 times higher than most U.S. citizens. Indeed, no harmful effects were seen in children at levels up to 20 times the average U.S. level. The work is published in the August 26 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association 2005.

Who should choose their fish carefully?
Too much mercury and PCBs can cause health problems for anyone. Because they alter the way young brains develop, these pollutants can harm babies and children most of all. Both mercury and PCBs linger in the body and build up over time. They can pass from a pregnant woman or a nursing mother to her baby.

It’s especially important for all children under 15, teenage girls, and women who are pregnant or could get pregnant to avoid eating fish that have high levels of mercury or PCBs

Drinking Alcohol ….moderately Good for Memory and Thinking

Women who consume alcohol moderately on a daily basis are about 20% less likely than abstainers to experience poor memory and decreased thinking abilities, according to recent research. The senior author of the study explains that “Women who consistently were drinking about one-half to one drink per day had both less cognitive impairment as well as less decline in their cognitive function compared to women who didn’t drink at all.”

Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital analyzed data from 12,480 women age 70 to 81 who participated in the Nurses’ Health Study beginning in 1980.The study was twice as large as any earlier study and also investigated the effects of different forms of alcohol on cognition and memory.

It didn’t matter whether the women drank beer, wine, or liquor (distilled spirits). The positive effects of the alcoholic beverages were all the same.

Although the study only examined women, previous research indicates that men benefit from substantially higher levels of alcohol consumption – one to two drinks each day.

Drinking Alcohol ……moderately is good for Heart patient

There have been more than sixty prospective studies from around the world, which suggest that men and women who drink alcohol moderately have a lower risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and overall mortality.Data suggest that this benefit is independent of other diet or lifestyle factors which may be related to moderate alcohol consumption.Sound evidences are there that the benefits are attributable to a higher HDL cholesterol level and a slower blood clotting time among the moderate drinkers.

BUT ONE MUST BE VERYMUCH CAREFUL, BECAUSE ALCOHOL DRINKING MAY CAUSE SEVER HEALTH HAZARDS...CLICK & SEE

There may be hundreds of precautions for alcohol drinking, but I would like to jot- down a few:

1.Never drink in empty stomac.

2.Those who have lever problem should not drink alcohol.

3.Pregnent women shouldnot drink alcohol.

4.Never drink more.

5.Never get alcohol dependent

Unani is an another good form of treatment in the Alternative medicine group. This treatment is carried out in systematic programs that helps to achieve the perfect balance that is required to maintain perfect health. It is said to be very effective and inexpensive too……...CLICK & SEE

Description: Unani system of Medicine (Unanipathy) which originated in Greece is based on the principles propounded by Galen, a Greek practitioner. After him, many Arab and Persian scholars enriched the system. Among them Abu Sina, an Arab philosopher and Physicist who wrote ‘Kitab-al-shifa’ or ‘Avicenna‘ was noteworthy. This system earlier known as ‘Galenic‘, later became Unani (Arabic name for Greek) system of medicine.

This system has a long and impressive record in India. It was introduced in India around 10th century A.D with the spread of Islamic civilization. Now Unanipathy has become a part of Indian system of Medicine and India is one of the leading countries so far as its practice is concerned. It is very much similar to our Ayurveda.

Unani Medicine established that disease was a natural process and that symptoms were the reactions of the body to the disease. It believes in the humoral theory which presupposes the presence of 4 humours -Dam (blood), Balgham (phlegm), Safra( Yellow bile) and Sauda (black bile) in the body. Each humour has its own temperament – blood is hot and moist, phlegm cold and moist, yellow bile hot and dry and black bile cold and dry. According to Unani, if the four main humours and the four primary qualities were all in a state of mutual equilibrium, one is considered healthy.

The diagnosis of diseases in Unani system of medicine is through examination of pulse, urine and stool. This system observes the influence of surroundings and ecological conditions such as air, food, drinks, body movement and repose, phychic movement and repose, sleep and wakefulness and excretion and retention on the state of health. This influence causes a dominance of one of the four humours in every human body. Unani believes that it is this dominance which gives a man his individual habit and complexion i.e his temperament.

In short, Unanipathy aims at maintaining proper health by conserving symmetry in the different spheres of a man’s life. Unani practitioners not only cures bodily diseases but also acts as an ethical instructor. One can learn more about this treatment in this page. I would also advice to look into this page as well………click & see

Diagnosis:
Unani classical literature consists of thousands of books. According to Unani medicine, management of any disease depends upon the diagnosis of disease. In the diagnosis, clinical features, i.e., signs, symptoms, laboratory features and mizaj (temperament) are important.

Any cause and or factor is countered by Quwwat-e-Mudabbira-e-Badan (the power of body responsible to maintain health), the failing of which may lead to quantitatively or qualitatively derangement of the normal equilibrium of akhlat (humors) of body which constitute the tissues and organs. This abnormal humor leads to pathological changes in the tissues anatomically and physiologically at the affected site and exhibits the clinical manifestations.

Treatment:
After diagnosing the disease, Usoole Ilaj (principle of management) of disease is determined on the basis of etiology in the following pattern:

*  Izalae Sabab (elimination of cause)
* Tadeele Akhlat (normalization of humors)
* Tadeele Aza (normalization of tissues/organs)

For fulfillment of requirements of principle of management, treatment is decided as per the Unani medicine which may be one or more of the following:

*   Ilaj-Bil-Tadbeer wa Ilaj-Bil-Ghiza (Regimenal Therapy). The disease may be treated by the modification of six essential pre-requisites of health (Asbab-e-Sitta Zarooriya in Unani Tibbi terminology). Asbab-e-Sitta Zarooriya may be modified by the use of one or more regimens: i.e., Dalak, Riyazat, Hammam, Taleeq, Takmeed, Hijamat (Cupping Therapy), Fasd, Lakhlakha, Bakhur, Abzan, Shamoomat (Aromatherapy), Pashoya, Idrar, Ishal, Qai, Tareeq, Elam, Laza-e-Muqabil, Imalah and alteration of food. According to the norms of C.C.I.M. New Delhi, Department of Ilaj-
Bil-Tadbeer has been established in almost all Unani Tibbi Colleges of India. In the State Unani Medical College, Allahabad, U.P. and State
Takmeel-Ul-Tibb College, Lucknow, Department of Ilaj-Bil-Tadbeer is known as Moalijat Khususi. Moaliajt Khususi is the old nomenclature of
Ilaj-Bil-Tadbeer, suggested by C.C.I.M. New Delhi. Ilaj-Bil-Tadbeer is synonym to Panchkarma in Ayurveda.

* Ilaj-Bil-Advia (Pharmacotherapy). For this purpose Mamulate Matab Nuskha (prescription) is formulated which contain the single and or compound (murakk?b?t) Unani drugs[12] having desired actions as per requirements.

*  Ilaj-Bil-Yad (Surgery)

As an alternative form of medicine, Unani has found favor in India where popular products like Roghan Baiza Murgh (Egg Oil) and Roghan Badaam Shirin (Almond Oil) are commonly used for hair care. Unani practitioners can practice as qualified doctors in India, as the government approves their practice. Unani medicine has similarities to Ayurveda. Both are based on theory of the presence of the elements (in Unani, they are considered to be fire, water, earth and air) in the human body. (The elements, attributed to the philosopher Empedocles, determined the way of thinking in Medieval Europe.) According to followers of Unani medicine, these elements are present in different fluids and their balance leads to health and their imbalance leads to illness.

The theory postulates the presence of blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile in the human body. Each person’s unique mixture of these substances determines his Mizaj (temperament). a predominance of blood gives a sanguine temperament; a predominance of phlegm makes one phlegmatic; yellow bile, bilious (or choleric); and black bile, melancholic.

Unani Education:   In India, there are 40 Unani medical colleges where the Unani system of medicine is taught. After five and half year courses, the graduates are awarded BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery). There are about eight Unani medical colleges where a postgraduate degree (Mahir-e-Tib and Mahir Jarahat) is being awarded to BUMS doctors. All these colleges are affiliated to reputed universities and recognized by the governments.

Notable Unani organizations/institutions:
*Hamdard Al-Majeed College of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University, Pakistan
*Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Hyderabad
*Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences, India.
*National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore, (Government of India)
*Tipu Sultan Unani Medical College, Gulbarga, Karnataka.
*Govt. Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh
