University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas has found that monounsaturated oils such as olive oil are more protective of HDL (the good cholesterol) levels than polyunsaturated fats such as corn oil and soybean oil. Olive oil reduces total cholesterol without lowering HDL.

Olive oil has several other medical application in addition to it’s heart protective role. such as:

DIGESTION: Olive oil can also help the digestive system to function more efficiently. It is thought to reduce gastric acidity and to be effective in protecting against ulcers and gastritis. It also stimulates bile secretion and regulates the emptying of the gallbladder, reducing the risk of gallstones.

INTESTINAL FUNCTION: Olive oil is the edible fat most easily absorbed by the intestines and regulates the passage of food through the intestines. One or two tablespoons of olive oil has a positive effect as a laxative.

BONE AND BRAIN DEVELOPMENT: Olive oil also promotes bone growth by fighting calcium loss and permits improved bone materialization in both children and adults due to its chemical composition. It is considered a good food choice for expectant and nursing mothers since it encourages normal brain development in the infant before and after birth. At the other end of the spectrum, olive oil may be helpful in preventing the wear and tear of age on the brain functions and the aging of organs and tissues in general.

It has been also proved that the use of olive oil in nutrition helps to sustain:

1. Human metabolism at a good balance, body’s growth and bone growth at a good level. It is obvious that olive oil means good health and development for our children.

2. Good level of Vitamin E in our body. This vitamin has the property to delay the change of the cellular structure which leads to natural decadence, the people’s aging, so one of the best medicaments for delaying aging is the olive oil. On the other hand, as we all know, Vitamin E improves our sexual life. So one can say that olive oil is by itself an aphrodisiac!
It is also soothing to mucous membrane and to dissolve cholesterol. Olive oil is useful externally for burns, bruises, insect bites, sprains, and intense itching. With alcohol it makes a good hair tonic, and with oil of rosemary a good treatment for dandruff. One of its most common uses is as a base for liniments and ointments.

[1] It is amazing how many applications there are for olive oil including; skin care, cosmetics, cooking and medicinal. Olive Oil is a staple in the Mediterranean diet and is used more commonly than butter. The use of Olive Oil has been linked to reduced cholesterol and a protection against several types of cancer.

Extra virgin olive oil is particularly rich in the phenolic antioxidants as well as squalene and oleic acid(a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid) , and high consumption of the foregoing in the diet provides considerable protection against colon, breast and skin cancer, coronary heart disease and aging by inhibiting oxidative stress.

Research has shown that scavenging of the hydroxyl radical was significantly higher among extracts of olive oil. This effect was only minimal in seed oils. In addition to their direct antioxidant capacity, extracts of olive oil are also potent inhibitors of xanthine oxidase activity.

A constant high olive oil intake in the diet, especially extra virgin olive oil, provides a constant supply of antioxidants. This may reduce oxidative stress through inhibition of lipid peroxidation, a factor that is currently linked to a host of diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

[2] The same study also concluded that a diet high in olive oil may reduce blood pressure levels due to its polyphenol content. Polyphenols are potent antioxidants that help the arteries to dilate thereby reducing blood pressure.
Last but not the least , is that oilve oil dessolves useful substances from the food that can not be absorbed by the human body.It can be used in every form of cooking. It can be used in salads or added in the cooking process of almost any recipe. Olive Oil is the healthiest type of oil with 0% cholesterol, rich in Vitamins against aging and perfect even for frying dishes. Olive oil is the best nutritional gift we can offer to ourselves. Olive oil helps us keep good in health making our life pleasant.

Good health & peaceful mind

MOST PEOPLE ENJOY GENERALLY good health. But others do not realize their health status is below average. But it’s never too late to reverse the situation.

Nutritional power

A not-so-new way to attain good health is through nutritional medicine. Before, the general attitude was to get the right nutrients from food without any vitamin supplements. Until now, some people still think vitamins are bad for the body or just a sheer waste of money. Not true.

The reason why supplementation is recommended by physicians today is because of the poor quality of modern life. The typical/popular diet consists of large quantities of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Plus high levels of salt and sugar.

Did you know?

  • The process of making white flour that removes the germ from the outer portion of the grain lessens by 80 percent the magnesium in flour.
  • Meat processing removes 50-70 percent of vitamin B6.
  • Cold storage removes 50 percent of vitamin C in tangerines.
  • Storing asparagus for one week results in the loss of 90 percent of its vitamin C.
  • Freshly-cut salads/fruits lose approximately 50 percent of their nutritional value if left to sit for more than three hours.
  • Vitamin C is sensitive to heat and cold. Prolonged storage weakens it.
  • Freezing destroys more than 50 percent of meat’s B vitamins.

Best Food list

  • The best protein and fats come from vegetables and vegetable oils, avocados, olive oil, nuts, beans, soy, virgin coconut oil. They contain fats that lower cholesterol levels.
  • The best carbohydrates are from whole fruits and vegetables. An apple is considered better than apple juice. Avoid all processed foods.
  • The next best protein and fat sources are cold-water fish like sardines, mackerel, tuna, salmon. Fats from these decrease inflammation in the body (the cause of disease).
  • The next best protein comes from fowl. The fat of the bird is found on top and not in the meat. Though it is considered saturated fat, if you remove the skin, you get lean meat.
  • The worst kind of fat is from red meat and dairy products. If you will eat meat, get the leanest cut of all. If you take eggs, try organic.
  • It is said if you follow this food guide, instead of stimulating the release of insulin, the body releases glucagons that use fat, lower blood pressure, decrease triglycerides and LDC (bad) cholesterol and raise HDC (good) cholesterols.
  • Best defense
  • If one eats healthy, a generous dose of antioxidants strengthens the defense against disease. The immune system needs help from an army consisting of vitamins C, B, E and A; and betacarotene as well as CoQ10, alpha-lipoic acid, bioflavonoids, glutathione, grape seed extract, selenium and zinc.Studies have shown that these nutrients can heal and even improve a serious health condition. Optimize your body’s natural defense system. Take a long hard look at your health today. Then take charge by making a stand
  • .Best relaxations
In a tub of warm water, blend rose and lavender oils. Close your eyes. Play meditation music. Forget your worries.
Affirmation: “Today and always, I take charge of my body, my mind and my sole. And so it is.

Humanism

Humanism should be today’s religion for every human of the world.I strongly believe every man should believe in only one religion and that is totally Secular Humanism. It is a fact that every religion of the world has lots preachings of humanism in it.But it is also a fact that every religion has its own way preaching humanism, and moreover,it separates man from one religion to a man of other religion. although the ultimate goal of every religion is to achieve mental peace and happiness and to reah near the suprim force ,or the power, the GOD.

.While the dominant forms of humanism are atheistic (and express a disbelief in the supernatural), not all forms of humanism are. However, all forms of humanism are built around a rejection of the importance of the supernatural in human affairs, regardless of whether or not it exists. In this way, humanism as a group of related philosophies does not necessarily rule out some form of theism or deism, and there are many humanists who consider themselves religious, some of whom are members of (typically, liberal) religious organizations. What humanism clearly rejects is blind deference to supernatural beliefs in resolving human affairs, not necessarily the beliefs themselves.

According to humanism, it is up to us to find the truth, not wait for it to be handed to us through revelation, mysticism, tradition, or anything else that is incompatible with the application of logic to the evidence. In demanding that we avoid blindly accepting unsupported beliefs, it supports scientific scepticism and the scientific method, rejecting authoritarianism and extreme skepticism, and rendering faith an unacceptable basis for action. Likewise, humanism asserts that knowledge of right and wrong is based on our best understanding of our individual and joint interests, rather than stemming from a transcendental or arbitrarily local source.

Humanism features an optimistic attitude about the capacity of people, but it does not involve believing that human nature is purely good or that each and every person is capable of living up to the humanist ideals of rationality and morality. If anything, there is the recognition that living up to our potential is hard work and requires the help of others. The ultimate goal is human flourishing; making life better. Even among humanists who do believe in some sort of an afterlife, the focus is on doing good and living well in the here and now, and leaving the world better for those who come after us, not on suffering through life to be rewarded afterwards.

There are many people who consider themselves humanists, and much variety in the exact type of humanism they believe in. There is some disagreement over terminology and definitions, with some people using narrower or broader interpretations. Not all people who call themselves humanists hold beliefs that are genuinely humanistic, and not all people who do hold humanistic beliefs apply the label of humanism to themselves.

Secular Humanism is the branch of humanism that rejects any particular religion and the existence of a supernatural. It is often associated with scientists and academics. Secular humanists generally believe that following humanist principes naturally leads to secularism, on the basis that only one religious views cannot be supported rationally. If someone believes in secular humanism , there is no reason why one will not believe in the supreme force or the power that has created this unique universe.
Humanism teaches us that it is not wise to wait for God to act for us. We must act to stop the wars(as there lies the sprit of GOD in every human being) and the crimes and the brutality of this and future ages. We have powers of a remarkable kind. We have a high degree of freedom in choosing what we will do. Humanism tells us that whatever our philosophy of the universe may be, ultimately the responsibility for the kind of world in which we live rests with us.

Now, while Secular Humanists may agree with much of what religious Humanists do, they deny that this activity is properly called “religious.” This isn’t a mere semantic debate. Secular Humanists maintain that there is so much in religion deserving of criticism that the good name of Humanism should not be tainted by connection with it.

Now, what is Religion?
Religion is a human phenomenon that defies easy definition. It is commonly understood as a group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object (real or imagined), person (real or imagined), or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, devine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with “faith” or belief system In the course of the development of religion, it has taken many forms in various cultures and individuals and all these were needed according to the need of the time. Occasionally, the word “religion” is used in the more restrictive sense of “organized religion”. Religion is very important structure of the socity. We all must believe in a higher power, in whatever shape and form, to become spiritual, to be connected to each other and the world, to tap into the mystical energy of life.It is religious aggression that leads to evil doings and war. . Tolerance, respect and love are the keys to peace in the world. And when you think about it, we are all family members of one village called Earth.
Why we need to have one and only one religion today?
Today, the world has totally changed . The whole human population is practically living in a single village now….. THE GLOBAL VILLAGE.Where now people can talk , see and communicate each other much much faster and easier way.. Now, we are a single community….. a human community. So, we must have a single religion……..which we may call Humanism. This community should have only one type of place for praying instead of going to church, mandir or masjid , we would go to one place only and pray for the betterment of humanity. Our priest should preach us the preaching that we need most today to save the humanity and save the world. And I believe saving the environment for saving the whole world and it’s living creatures should be one of them.

Skipping is a very good exercise for chieldren.Even for teen agers Skipping is an excelent exercise. It the best form of exercise which is beneficial to most of the organs of the body.Skipping improves fitness, behaviour, and is enjoible to everyone. It helps to develop co-ordination,co-operation and communication skills and it is an activity that both boys and girls can do togather.I believe that Skipping to be the best form of exercise for todays chieldren. As it does not always need much space and can be done indoor.
Skipping improves cardiovascular fitness, increases mascular strength, better endurance, greater flexibility, strong bones, improve balance, improve agility but the most important is that it helps to become tall with the age and balance weight with the height.

In my personal experience I have found that those who did regular skipping exercise in their chieldhood are taller persons afterwards when they grow up, than those who never care to do it.So, I would request every parent who wants their chield to be tall should encourage the chield to practice skipping daily .

Tips for safe skipping

  • Don’t try too much too soon. Start with a 1:3 skipping: rest ratio, so if you skip for five minutes you rest for 15, and build up slowly
  • Make sure the children (and you) are wearing appropriate shoes, such as cross-trainers or aerobic shoes, as these provide appropriate stability and cushioning under the forefoot
  • Choose a well-lit area, preferably with a springy wooden floor or a carpeted surface, or put a thin, non-slip exercise mat down first
  • Watch for posture. Knees and ankles should be bent and the torso straight when jumping. Arms should be by the skipper’s side, with the rope turning from the wrists and forearms
  • Before skipping, do five minutes of gentle cardiovascular exercise, such as walking or marching. Then, gently stretch all the major muscle groups. Remember to cool down, bringing the heart rate down gently at the end of a session. Stretches should be repeated
