Looking Beyond The Unknown

We are always afraid of losing WHAT WE HAVE.

One of humanity’s biggest fears is losing what we have.Although we know it for sure that nothing is everlasting, everything will be destroid someday, we can not accept it in our mind. It is healthy when fear of loss helps us take steps to protect what we have worked hard to attain, but it is unhealthy to continue to fear something we can do nothing about. We need to remember that focusing our energy on fear can actually create what scares us, and holding tightly to what we have keeps us from participating in the universal flow of abundance and instead creates stagnation. Since we can only really control our thoughts and our responses, gaining proper perspective may be key to conquering such fears.

The letters of the word “fear” can be used to stand for “False Evidence Appearing Real.” Fears of being separated from something or someone we feel we need for our security or happiness comes from a delusion-a distorted way of understanding ourselves and the world around us. When we understand that possessions are only representations of the energy at work in our lives, we can shift our attention to the right and proper place. We can stop fearing loss of money or success because when we understand how it is created, we can always create more. We can stop fearing loss of possessions when we realize that they are not the source of our joy or well-being but only icing on our cakes. And when we understand the energy of love, we need not hold anyone too close for fear of losing them for we know that love does not diminish when it is given or shared but expands beyond boundaries of time and space.

By focusing our light on our fears, they are revealed as mere shadows that disappear in the presence of mind and spirit. We can choose instead to direct our thoughts and creative power toward things of true value-love, abundance, peace, passion, and joy. These are energies that are always available to us(only we are to drag them from withen) when we place ourselves confidently in the universal flow of abundance.

I believe if PEACE is the ultimate goal in our life ,we must devote ourselves to LOVE , SACRIFICE ,FORGIVE AND FORGET which only can give us eternal happiness.

Aching knees? Try turmeric

The wonders of India’s staple spice turmeric seem to just keep popping up.

US scientists announced today that animal studies show turmeric extracts can prevent arthritis and bone loss.

The researchers at the University of Arizona College of Medicine have said their studies are the first to demonstrate the anti-arthritic effect of turmeric extracts called curcuminoids in living animals.

Several previous studies, including some by Indian researchers, have shown that turmeric’s curcumin extract can play a role as an anti-inflammatory agent and as an anti-tumour agent.

In the study reported today in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism, endocrinologist Janet Funk and her colleagues said their experiments also provide the first documentation of a mechanism of action — how curcumin-containing extracts protect the animals from arthritis.

The extracts inhibit a substance called NF-KBm which enhances the production of proteins that destroy joints in arthritis.

According to Funk, these findings pave the way for clinical trials required before turmeric supplements can be prescribed routinely to prevent or treat rheumatoid arthritis.

The study also shows that a turmeric extract blocked a biochemical process in the body that influences bone loss.

In women, bone loss usually begins before the onset of menopause. Funk has initiated another study to determine whether turmeric taken as a dietary supplement before menopause can prevent bone loss and osteoporosis.

Indian scientists who have been working on turmeric said they are not surprised by the findings. Scientists at the Institute of Cytology and Preventive Oncology in New Delhi had last year shown that turmeric might help fight the human papilloma virus, which causes cervical cancer. Their studies showed that curcumin blocked viral genes.

Three years ago, a team at the National Centre for Cell Science in Pune had revealed possible mechanisms by which curcumin demonstrates its anti-tumour effects.

The effect of curcumin on NF-KB, observed by Funk and her colleagues, suggests that turmeric dietary supplements share the same mechanism of action as anti-arthritic drugs under development. This finding also suggests that turmeric may find applications in other inflammatory diseases such as asthma and inflammatory bowel disease.

Testosterone levels down in last 20 yrs

[amazon_link asins=’B06XQ76W5V,B01HIQA72E,B013CSBBJA,B012YG06N8,B00GWL6EHY,B01N0ZFBTK,B00V3ZFR90,B01D0GQ284,B01N7B67CB’ template=’ProductCarousel’ store=’finmeacur-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’0d3ef359-26a8-11e7-965b-2f699bef4005′]

NEW YORK: A new study has found a “substantial” drop in US men’s testosterone levels since the 1980s, but the reasons for the decline remain unclear. This trend also does not appear to be related to age.

The average levels of the male hormone dropped by 1% a year, Dr Thomas Travison and colleagues from the New England Research Institutes in Watertown, Massachusetts, found.

This means that, for example, a 65-year-old man in 2002 would have testosterone levels 15% lower than those of a 65-year-old in 1987. This also means that a greater proportion of men in 2002 would have had below-normal testosterone levels than in 1987.

“The entire population is shifting somewhat downward we think,” Travison said. “We’re counting on other studies to confirm this.”

Travison and his team analyzed data from the Massachusetts Male Aging Study, a long-term investigation of aging in about 1,700 Boston-area men. Data from the men were collected for three time intervals: 1987-1989, 1995-1997, and 2002-2004.

While a man’s testosterone level will fall steadily as he ages, the researchers observed a speedier decline in average testosterone levels than would have been expected with aging alone.

They hypothesised that the rising prevalence of obesity as well as the sharp decline in cigarette smoking might help explain their findings, given that testosterone levels are lower among overweight people and smoking increases testosterone levels. But these factors accounted for only a small%age of the observed difference.

It’s likely that some sort of environmental exposure is responsible for the testosterone decline, Travison said, although he said attempting to explain what this might be based on the current findings would be “pure conjecture.”

The researchers used body mass index, the ratio of height to weight, to estimate obesity levels, he noted, but this is not a very accurate way to gauge the real adiposity, or fat content of the body, so it’s possible that obesity might be more of a factor than it appears in this analysis.

“I think like most things that are complex, it’s likely that there is no one cause,” he said.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away

APPLE IS A WONDERFUL FRUIT:…..
The apple is one of nature’s perfect packages. As food to help shed those pounds gained over the recent holiday indulgence, apples provide plenty of fibre, primarily pectin and cellulose. Pectin gives dieters a sense of fullness to make them feel they’ve eaten heartily. It helps reduce blood cholesterol and aids in digestion of fat. Apples also provide plenty of potassium which helps regulate body fluids and neuromuscular activity. The vitamins A, B1, B2 and C as well as phosphorus and calcium are contained in an apple. They regulate blood sugar and give a hefty dose of the mineral boron which is crucial to maintaining strong bones and preventing osteoporosis. Apples are the only locally grown fruit available in Canadian markets during the winter months.

Nutrition information:

There are many benefits from eating apples. “A apple a day keeps the doctor away” has an increasing number of supportive scientific evidences for its claim. It has been found that eating apples helps to reduce blood cholesterol, improve bowel function, reduce risk of stroke, prostate cancer, Type II diabetes and asthma. This is due to the fibre and phytonutrients present in the apples.

Recent researches have shown that eating apples are linked to reducing cancer risk in several studies. Some examples are :

  • Quercetin, a flavonoid abundant in apples has been found to help prevent the growth of prostate cancer cells
  • Phytonutrients in the skin of apples inhibited the growth of colon cancer cells by 43%
  • Food containing flavonoids like those in apples may reduce risk of lung cancer as much as 50%
  • Dietary phenolics such as flavonoids (found in apples) have inhibitory effects on the developments of carcinogenic substances in the bladder, thereby reducing risk of bladder cancer, especially in smokers.

Moreover, eating apples could improve lung function and reduce the risk of respiratory disease such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) due to antioxidants present in apple that could counter the oxygen’s damaging effects on the body as well as the flavonoids such as catechins(present in apple and tea).

In addition, studies have shown that a diet rich in apples could help to lower the blood cholesterol level. Pectin, a soluble fibre found in the apples has been thought to play a significant role in this. In fact, apple juice has been found to inhibit the oxidation of a harm from cholestrol)LDL, or lower density lipoprotein).

Besides therapeutic benefits, apples are also found to play a role in inhibiting ageing -related problems, preventing wrinkles and promoting hair growth (due to compound named procyanidin B-2).

For the weight- watchers, this is good news as apples are delicious source of dietary fibre and helps to aid digestion and promote weight los.

An apple a day” now has new meaning for those who want to maintain mental dexterity as they age. New research from the University of Massachusetts Lowell suggests that consuming apple juice may protect against cell damage that contributes to age-related memory loss, even in test animals that were not prone to developing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Moreover, apples are rich sources of phytochemicals (compounds found in plants, fruits, and vegetables that can act as anti-oxidants). Apples and apple juices are the best source for mineral boron which helps to promote bone growth. In addition, the high fibre content helps in slow release of sugars into the body, thereby helps to maintain a steady blood sugar level.

Searching for the cause of pre-school puberty

Parents often think their children grow up too quickly, but few are prepared for the problem that Michael Dedekian and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical School reported recently.

At the annual Pediatric Academic Society meeting in May in San Francisco, they presented a report that described how a preschool-age girl, and then her kindergarten-age brother, mysteriously began growing pubic hair. These cases were not isolated; in 2004, pediatric endocrinologists from San Diego reported a similar cluster of five children.

It turns out that there have been clusters of cases in which children have prematurely developed signs of puberty, outbreaks similar to epidemics of influenza or environmental poisonings. In 1979, the medical journal the Lancet described an outbreak of breast enlargement among hundreds of Italian schoolchildren, probably caused by estrogen contamination of beef and poultry.

Increasingly though the science is still far from definitive and the precise number of such cases is highly speculative some physicians worry that children are at higher risk of early puberty as a result of the increasing prevalence of certain drugs, cosmetics and environmental contaminants, called “endocrine disruptors,” that can cause breast growth, pubic hair development and other symptoms of puberty.

Most commonly, outbreaks of puberty in children are traced to accidental drug exposures from products that are used incorrectly. Dedekian’s first patient was evaluated for possible genetic endocrine problems and a rare brain tumour before the cause of her puberty was discovered. It turned out that her testosterone level was almost 100 times normal, in the range of an adult man.
